401K Halal Funds

What are some HALAL options for 401K funds live in USA, I have the ability Brokerage account but I am not sure. I did not realize that my company is doing stocks trading with my 401k.

Also what are the rules to decide whether the fund is halal or not.

Thank you

Salaam, and welcome @Osama123!

Since your plan allows a self-directed brokerage account, you have a few options to choose from:

  1. Shariah-compliant ETFs: Some top ones are HLAL, SPUS, SPSK and UMMA. You can see a more comprehensive list here.
  2. Shariah-compliant mutual funds: Similar to the ETFs, there are also mutual fund options like AMAGX, WISEX, and IMANX. A few more options are listed here.
  3. Target date funds: SP Funds recently launched a series of Shariah-compliant target date retirement funds. These provide an all-in-one portfolio based on your expected retirement date. They are still new so check if your brokerage supports them yet. More info here.
