Selam Aleykum guys, In Shaa Allah you are doing well.
I came to realise that the stock with the ticker CPNG (Coupang) is classified as halal, though within its business Coupang sells pork meat, any explanation please?
Walaikumus salam! Coupang is a South Korean e-commerce company similar to Amazon, selling a wide range of products, some of which may contain pork or other non-halal ingredients. Since the company doesn’t provide a detailed breakdown of product sales, we make reasonable assumptions based on their business model and primary product types. As long as non-compliant revenue is less than 5% (and all other financial ratios pass), the stock can be considered compliant, which is consistent with how we assess other large, diversified retailers.
Remember, just because a stock is deemed compliant doesn’t mean you have to invest in it. Always do your own research, and if you feel uncomfortable with a particular company, it’s best to avoid it. There are plenty of other stocks to choose from.
