I try to get the Zakat liable amount for some ETFs, e.g. VGT, QQQ, QTEC, SOXX …
It’s always 30%. That’s a bit strange because some underlying stocks have much lower Zakat liable amount (e.g. GOOG with 9%).
Could someone help me understand this?

As-salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmaa Tu’lahi Wa Brakatu,
The 30% is a rule and not necessarily a calculated per stock per share thing.
The scholars generally just advise giving 30%.
Some say 100%
Others say even less than that.
