I’ve noticed that several stocks listed on Zoya as having 0% impermissible income actually report a notable amount of interest income in their SEC filings.
In particular, I’ve looked closely at CRDO and RMD. I built my portfolio using Zoya’s screener, including only companies listed as having 0% impermissible income. However, I’m unsure whether the 0% figure is an approximation or if some data from the 10-Qs and 10-Ks might have been missed.
Anyone know if Zoya does a deep search for financial data? Sometimes interest income is hidden under “other income” on income statements.
It was not negligible. I pull this data from the most recent 10-Q:
Total revenue: $223M
Interest earned: $4.3M
The interest/revenue is 1.92%, not negligible. Especially since 5% is our cut-off for haram stocks.
There is also a line for other income, net at $3.95M, but the footnotes do not mention interest income as part of that. The footnotes do explicitly mention the $4.3M as interest income.
