salam alaykum
I have always read that futures trading is haram and short selling is haram
But I see that it is possible to buy futures contracts and sell short in the Saudi market
Is there a difference of opinion ?
Are there scholarly groups that authorize futures contracts and short selling?

It may come as a surprise but not every company or product in the Saudi market adheres to shariah compliance.

Unfortunately too many things happening in Saudi Arabia that it is not Sharia compliance and one of tham future and trading stock options but that does not make it Halal .
